Key Responsibilities

Academic Leadership & Programme Management

  • Lead the day-to-day delivery of your designated programme, ensuring an outstanding student experience across all modes of delivery.
  • Collaborate with the wider programme team to maintain curriculum relevance, aligning content with current industry and academic developments, and RCL’s teaching and learning approach.
  • Take ownership of programme-level quality assurance, including:
    • Adherence to partner institution requirements
    • Active engagement with External Examiners
    • Oversight of assessment design, delivery, and marking standards
    • Monitoring and maintaining high teaching standards to ensure learning outcomes are met
  • Use student performance data to inform annual programme reviews and contribute to enhancement planning.
  • Work closely with Module Leaders to ensure VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) content is current, engaging, and compliant with RCL and partner standards.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Provide mentorship and leadership to academic colleagues, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance.
  • Partner with Faculty Managers to support staff development, performance, and wellbeing.
  • Support the successful onboarding of new staff and students through structured induction processes.
  • Lead on curriculum design and development initiatives to enhance programme quality and relevance.
  • Participate in academic boards and panels, including assessment boards, academic misconduct hearings, annual reviews, and teaching observations.

Teaching, Learning & Assessment

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and assessment that aligns with best practices and ensures an engaging student learning experience.
  • Identify and support students requiring additional help by referring them to appropriate services.
  • Provide timely, constructive, and developmental feedback on assessments.
  • Promote assessment literacy, academic integrity, and good study practices among students.
  • Manage academic misconduct cases in line with internal and partner policies.

Research & Scholarship

  • Engage in scholarly activity relevant to your subject area and contribute to the academic community through research, publication, or knowledge exchange initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • A postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline from a recognised institution.
  • Minimum FHEA status or willingness to complete within 12 months.
  • Significant experience of programme or course management in teaching within a higher education institution
  • Experience working with franchised and validated partnerships.
  • Proven track record in teaching, curriculum development, and academic management within the fields of Sports Science.
  • Knowledge of current trends and innovations in Sports Science education including innovative assessment
  • Able to work flexibly and across campuses.
  • You should have strong interpersonal and people skills to manage, motivate, and inspire others.
  • You must be confident in using online platforms and tools for teaching and working.
