About the role
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join Dr Tessa Cacciottolo’s research team at the MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences (LMS). Dr Cacciottolo is a clinician scientist working in collaboration with Professor Dave Carling’s laboratory in the Cellular Stress Group. Her research focuses on rare forms of fatty liver disease, particularly in individuals who are young or slim—an area where the underlying causes remain poorly understood.
What you would be doing
You will support a research project investigating the genetic causes of fatty liver disease in young or slim individuals. Your work will contribute to understanding the disease’s underlying mechanisms and may help identify new targets for treatment. This includes assisting with lab-based experiments, specifically routine tasks for in vitro and murine studies—full training in relevant methods will be provided.
What we are looking for
You should have a Masters degree in a biological subject or a related discipline or equivalent vocational qualification and / or equivalent experience in laboratory management. You should have proven experience in cell culture methods, including basic molecular biology techniques such as cell culture, Western blot and qPCR. Specific expertise in induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) culture is not required as training will be provided.
